I booked my Bergen accommodations in great haste. I was rushed that morning and was lucky enough to intercept a return email from the Bergen Guesthouse before I boarded my plane to Oslo less than 24 hours before.
Pleasant surprise doesn't even cover it: tucked away on the tiniest of streets, located near the base of my forest and just near enough to the best parts of town. Succulents in the windows, clean sheets, a kettle for tea in the morning. The bathroom is shared once again, but in a way that feels like I am a guest in a home, not slumming in a dorm. There are a few other guests and the owners live upstairs but everyone has been quiet and courteous. The insider tips I have been given have all proved better than expected.
This place was just what I needed and only added to my love of this city. Another thing Bergen did right, just for me.
