a very giant tit

There's a bit of trouble brewing out on the pasture and it's been described to me as having to do with "a very giant tit".

A calf was born recently and for reasons unknown one of the mother's teats is extremely engorged. Engorged to the point that it's clearly causing her discomfort and seemingly too hard and too big for the little calf to want anything to do with it. Everyone hoped that it might resolve itself, but unfortunately it hasn't.
Further investigation is going to require hands on examination and that will be no small task. For one thing, these are basically wild cows who are not accustomed to being touched, milked, or manhandled. It also means mother and calf being separated which means major, major drama.
Everyone is on pins and needles and dreading the experience. The very best chance they have is if she's feeling particularly hungry and able to be lured into a trailer to try to have a look and maybe milk her. An attempt at this has already failed once and either way it's incredibly dangerous for the farmer. Unfortunately the more time that passes, the greater the chance of her developing an infection, and soon a veterinarian will need to get involved.

This giant tit has only added to the persistent dark rain clouds cast over the farm today. Here's hoping for sunnier skies (and hopefully good tit related news) soon.
